For He Knows Our Frame

A Christian’s battle with sin never ends in this life. The world, the flesh, and the devil will continue their relentless attacks on this side of eternity. There are seasons of victory—and there are times of painful failure.
In my own fight with sin, I often find myself slowly beginning to rely on my own strength. As if, after all God has done, I should now be able to walk on my own. As if I no longer need His grace quite as much.
Consider David’s words in Psalm 103. After declaring the height of God’s mercy and love, he writes:
“As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust.”
— Psalm 103:13–14
Verse 14 has always stayed with me.
“For He knows our frame.”
What does that mean?
It means God knows we were made from dust.
He knows our limits.
He knows our weakness.
He knows our frailty.
He knows we’re prone to wander.
And He knows it better than we do.
This passage doesn’t minimize sin or suggest that God takes holiness lightly. Instead, we hear a needed reminder: in your fight against sin, don’t lean on yourself. You never outgrow your need for grace.
Keep fighting. Keep trusting.
And remember that He knows your frame.
